Lion’s Lair is produced by Leeuwenkuil Family Vineyards, which is owned by the Dreyer family and is situated in theSwartland wine region, 30 miles north of Cape Town along the West Coast of South Africa. The Swartland region isextremely dry as water is scarce. This results in smaller berries as the vines are constantly stressed and gives a greatconcentration of fruit from varieties that can handle the environment.
The Swartland is often associated with the Rhone region in France and the styles of wine are somewhat similar. Thewine style is dominated by primary fruit with a good structure and freshness. The area produces some of the bestChenin Blanc and Shiraz in South Africa.
